Coordination of the PhD in Energy
The PhD in Energy is an in-person, network-based program that belongs to CONACyT’s National Quality Graduate Program. It brings together five academic units and a broad group of researchers.
Functions of the Site Coordination Office
The Site Coordination Office is an institutional role led by a Site Coordinator—typically a graduate faculty member—responsible for coordinating the operations of a multi-site program within the academic unit hosting the PhD in Energy.
Its functions, established in Article 108 of the Reglamento de Estudios de Posgrado del IPN, include:
-
Supporting academic and administrative activities of the PhD in Energy.
-
Convening and leading meetings of the Academic Body.
-
Promoting the proper delivery and regular updating of the program’s learning units.
-
Encouraging the integration of PhD students into research projects.
-
Carrying out activities needed to obtain external recognition for the program.
-
Presenting curriculum redesign proposals and updates to learning units—developed by the Academic Body—to the Graduate Faculty Council of the corresponding site.
-
Presenting to the Graduate Faculty Council the proposed composition of the core and associated academic groups, in accordance with accreditation requirements.
-
Evaluating the annual academic activities of the program and reporting results to the Graduate Faculty Council.
-
Supporting and verifying the timely fulfillment of responsibilities by thesis advisors and tutorial committees, and keeping the Graduate Faculty Council informed of student progress and completion.
-
Requesting the Graduate Faculty Council’s approval for examination committees for pre-doctoral and degree exams, based on Academic Body proposals.
-
Communicating to the Graduate Faculty Council the agreements reached during Academic Body meetings.
-
Preparing reports required by the Secretariat regarding norms, policies, and indicators as part of the program’s evaluation process.
