Dr. Juan Ramón Terven Salinas is a Research Professor at the Instituto Politécnico Nacional en CICATA-Qro. His research areas include classical Computer Vision as well as modern Vision techniques using deep learning. His research projects are organized into three categories:

• Projects aimed at global objectives, such as poverty alleviation and the maintenance of terrestrial ecosystems.

• Automation-focused projects, such as camera calibration and complex object recognition.

• Basic research projects in artificial intelligence.

He earned a degree in Electronics Engineering from the Instituto Tecnológico del Mar (2004), a Master’s in Computer Science from the Universidad Autónoma de Sinaloa (2008), and a Ph.D. in Advanced Technology from CICATA Querétaro at Instituto Politécnico Nacional (2016). He was a visiting student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2013 and an internal researcher at Microsoft Research (MSR) in 2014. From 2006 to 2012, he served as a professor at the Instituto Tecnológico de Mazatlán and the Universidad Politécnica de Sinaloa.

Dr. Terven has also worked as a Scientific Researcher at AiFi (2016–2023), an American company dedicated to automation, where he is credited as the author of ten U.S. patents. He is a Level 1 member of the National System of Researchers (Sistema Nacional de Investigadores) and has published approximately 20 articles in prestigious scientific journals.
