He holds a degree in Electronic Engineering (1997) from ITLAC, Michoacán. He obtained a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (2000) from CINVESTAV-IPN, Mexico; a Master of Science in Information Technology (2004) from the Universidad de Valencia, Spain; and a PhD in Information Technology, Communications, and Computing Sciences (2007) from the Universidad de Valencia, España.

From 1997 to 1998, he served as a professor at the Unidad Profesional Interdisciplinaria de Biotecnología, IPN. From 1999 to 2000, he was a civilian professor at the Universidad del Ejército y Fuerza Aérea Mexicanos (Escuela Militar de Ingenieros – Popotla). Between 1998 and 2015, he was a tenured professor at the Escuela Superior de Cómputo, IPN.

During 2004–2005, he carried out a research stay at the Laboratory for Integrated Advanced Robotics (LIRA – Lab) in Genoa, Italy. From 2015 to 2016, he completed a postdoctoral stay at the Instituto de Cibernética Matemática y Física (ICIMAF) in Cuba.

He is currently a tenured professor at the Centro de Investigación en Ciencia Aplicada y Tecnología Avanzada (CICATA-QRO) del IPN. He is a member of the Red de Medio Ambiente and the Red de expertos en Robótica y Mecatrónica of the IPN.
