Dr. Marlenne Gómez Ramírez is a graduate of the Escuela Nacional de Ciencias Biológicas (ENCB) of the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN), where she earned her undergraduate degree as a Biologist, Chemist, and Parasitologist. She also holds Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Chemical-Biological Sciences from the IPN. She completed a postdoctoral research stay at the Centro de Investigación y de Estudios Avanzados (CINVESTAV) of the IPN, in the Department of Genetics and Molecular Biology. From 2004 to 2010, she worked in the Department of Microbiology at ENCB-IPN, in the Microbial Enzymes Laboratory.
Since 2011, she has served as a Professor and Researcher in the Biotechnology area at the Centro de Investigación en Ciencias Aplicadas y Tecnología Avanzada of the Instituto Politécnico Nacional, located in Querétaro (CICATA-Qro.), Mexico. Since January 2018, she has been a member of the Sistema Nacional de Investigadoras e Investigadores (SNII), holding Level I status.
She has supervised numerous undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral theses. In addition, she has published articles in national and international peer-reviewed journals, as well as book chapters and conference proceedings. She has served as a project evaluator for the Dirección General de Educación Tecnológica Industrial y de Servicios (DGETI), CONACyT, and IPN research projects. She is a peer reviewer for the journals Bioremediation Journal, Environmental Technology, Journal of Hazardous Materials, Journal of Environmental Chemical Engineering, and Biotechnology Reports. She has led and participated in multiple research projects and has been a member of the IPN Environmental Network since 2012.
Research Lines and Projects Her areas of expertise include Environmental Microbiology, Microbial Processes, Purification of homologous and heterologous enzymes, Evaluation of enzymatic activities, Treatment of hazardous waste contaminated with metals using microorganisms or their metabolites, Production of metallic nanoparticles using filamentous fungi, and the molecules involved in their synthesis. She is currently working on a project focused on the effects of atmospheric pollutants and soil quality on the health of tree leaves. |
