  • The Volkswagen Foundation (Germany) approved the collaborative project “Role of the Ras protein during head regeneration in Hydra” between my laboratory and that of Dr. Thomas Bosch, Institute of Zoology, University of Munich (Germany). The project duration was three years (1996–1999), with total funding of 85,000 Deutsche Marks. Notably, the full amount was awarded directly to my laboratory.

  • CONACYT approved funding to cover travel expenses for both faculty members and students related to the cooperation project with Germany (1996–1998). This project was considered a concerted action, with 50% of the funding provided by CONACYT and 50% by CINVESTAV. The approved amount for the first two years was MXN $45,000.00 (Ref. E130-1818).

  • CONACYT approved funding for the project “Hydra Head Regeneration” for a period of three years starting in 1998, with an approved budget of MXN $672,834.00 (Ref. 26289-N).

  • CONACYT also approved funding for travel expenses associated with the Germany cooperation project for the period 1999–2000, under the same concerted action scheme (50% CONACYT / 50% CINVESTAV) (Ref. E130-1447).

  • The Third World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) awarded USD 5,000 for the purchase of equipment in support of the project “Isolation and characterization of genes differentially expressed at three developmental stages of Leishmania mexicana mexicana” (Ref. 98-034 RG/BIO/LA).

  • Under the 1999 UC MEXUS–CONACYT call, the project “Head formation in Hydra / Formación de la cabeza en hidra” was approved in collaboration with Dr. Hans Bode, Developmental Biology Center, University of California at Irvine. The project duration was one year, with funding of USD 25,000 (maximum allowable time and budget) (Ref. UCMEXUS/99-02).

  • CONACYT approved funding for the project “Molecular analysis of the Hydra head organizer” for three years starting in 2001, with an approved amount of MXN $1,279,680.00 (Ref. 36034-N).
